Wood River Fire & Rescue Training Information

(Click on for larger picture)

Each month Wood River Fire & Rescue has internal department drills that cover Fire, EMS, and Technical Rescues. One of these categories are covered in a department wide drill just about once every week of the year. This helps to keep everyone in the department up to speed with new equipment, policies, procedures, guidelines, requirements and more. The training is also designed to help prepare everyone for the types of things they might encounter while on any of the various types on incidents we have.

As we are not the only department in the valley, it is important for us to train with the other departments as often as possible. For example, each year we have a county wide urban interface drill where all local fire departments work together along with federal agencies such as the BLM and Forest Service to handle a imaginary fire.

Some times we are not equiped to train our own personnel on certain subjects so our people are either sent to training classes outside of the valley or the training classes are brought to us. This allows us to be certain that all personnel are getting the best possible training on subjects from extrication to hazmat.
