Wood River Fire & Rescue is a rural fire department, which contracts with Blaine County to supply prehospital emergency response to the area of Blaine County south of the East Fork Bridge. We are also responsible for the care and transport of patients being transferred to other facilities outside of Blaine County for example to St Luke’s and St Al’s hospitals in Boise.

The north half of Blaine County is serviced in a similar fashion by Ketchum Fire Department.

With EMS (Emergency Medical Services) calls making up a large majority of your requests for help, ambulance service becomes an essential, dynamic and demanding part of Wood River Fire & Rescue’s responsibilities to you, the public whom we serve.

We employ full and part time staff, almost all of whom are trained as EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians). Levels range from Basics who perform many lifesaving skills, through Advanced, who are also trained to secure a patient’s airway and give fluids intravenously, and Paramedics who are sufficiently trained to perform the same emergency skills as a doctor would in many cases.

We have 3 fully equipped ambulances and maintain a rigorous training schedule to ensure a quick response and appropriate care when you or your loved one need help NOW!
