STATION 1: ENGINE 51 Engine 51 is the newest fire apparatus in Wood River Fire & Rescue's inventory. It is a custom built engine from Boise Mobile Equipment. With high ground clearance and 4x4 ability, Engine 51 is capable of being used in just about all the terrain in our district. The engine is also capable of pumping while driving (pump and roll) which is very useful when fighting wildland fires.
Whether fighting willand fires or structure fires, Engine 51 can puts it's compressed air foam system (CAFS) to work; compressed air foam extinguishes more fire with less water, an important asset in our rural district where water supply can be difficult. Engine 51 also has 5 pre-connected hose lines, 3 of which are tied into the CAFS, so we don't need to waste time connecting lines; We simply pull a line and start flowing water and/or foam.
Pump panel on Engine 51. Members go through a 2 month training class to learn just what each and every valve does!
